This Week at y Respira: The SPINE & Your Digestion

As we move deeper into the season of slowing down, this week we turn our attention to digestion—not just the food you eat, but the experiences, emotions, and energies your body is working to process.

Within the SPINE philosophy, digestion lives in the space between Physical Body, Intention, Nature/Nutrition, and Emotions and Energies. It is where your inner fire transforms what you take in—physically and energetically—into nourishment.

Why digestion this week?
Because your gut is your second brain. It’s where we metabolize stress, grief, joy, food, stories, and even the pace of our days. When digestion is weakened, everything feels harder: breath becomes shallow, emotions get stuck, and the nervous system loses rhythm.

This week in class, we’ll explore:

Creating Space
Gentle twists, supported folds, and breath patterns that open the diaphragm and release the belly, give space to your stomach and small intestines.

Physical Body Awareness
Noticing how the psoas, rib cage, and abdominal wall influence your internal organs.

Intention
Choosing what you want to “take in” and what you’re ready to let go.

Nature & Nutrition (TCM & Ayurveda)
Aligning with warm foods, seasonal spices, and rituals that support the digestive fire.

Emotions & the Gut
In SPINE, the belly is home to our “inner child”—curious, sensitive, intuitive. We’ll work on soothing and supporting that inner voice.

This is a beautiful week for softening, slowing, and allowing your body to guide you back into balance.

🌕 Full Moon Restorative — This Thursday, Dec 4th at 6 PM

Under the glow of the full moon, we gather for a 1-hour Restorative practice designed to soothe your nervous system, soften your edges, and help your body digest the emotional and energetic fullness of the season.

This month’s moon invites reflection, clearing, and gentle release. Expect long, supported postures, grounding breathwork, and a guided relaxation that nourishes the gut, heart, and spirit.

If you’ve been craving stillness, this is your invitation.
Bring your blankets, your softest socks, and your willingness to rest.
